Spina Bifida Occulta is a common condition, occurring in 10% - 20% of otherwise healthy people. When linked with EDS and tethered cord problems can arise. - Tethered Cord
Tethered spinal cord syndrome is a neurological disorder caused by tissue attachments that limit the movement of the spinal cord within the spinal column. - Chiari Malformation
Victoria had a 20 mm herniation with her Chiari I malformation. She has now been diagnosed with a Chiari 1.5 and a 9mm herniation. The boys have low lying cerebral tonsils with blocked cerebral spinal fluid flow. The end result for the boys is Chiari symptoms without the possibility of surgery for relief. - Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
Ehlers Danlos Syndrpme is a degenerative connective tissue disorder. Alex, Nicholas, Victoria and I have been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - Hypermobility Type.

Birthday Pictures
We had a lovely day celebrating Victoria's birthday today. I still can't believe that 7 years have gone by. We went to see the Muppet Movie and then headed out to dinner. After we got home we had cake and opened presents. Of course I was reminded that the store bought cake doesn't count as her official birthday cake. Yes, Victoria the Pixie Hollow Winter Wonderland cake will follow soon.
Yes, even before she had a piece of cake she had chocolate smudges on her face. I am guessing the chocolate is from the candy or chocolate chip cookies that St. Nicholas left last night. Victoria LOVES chocolate.
Hello Kitty is always a hit.
If you have a little girl then you are familiar with the "I love it!" scream. Ear piercing is the best way to describe it.

Nick's Birthday Party
As usual we were a bit behind in setting up Nick's birthday party. The first party had to be cancelled because of the stomach bug which was making it's way through our house. Then we had to wait until after various camping trips were completed. We were finally able to have Nick's birthday party a few weeks ago. Here are some of the highlights from our football themed party.
Nick wanted the Ravens but the only toy football players we could find were San Francisco and Dallas. I did get a Raven on the field - so it was all good.
All of the kids got to either carve pumpkins or paint them.
The birthday boy not happy with Mom. I forgot that he had his own pocket knife (he just got his whittling belt loop). Steven reminded me and gave Nick his knife to work on his pumpkin.

No one was able to break the pinata so Steven brought it inside and broke it open in the living room. Chaos ensued - candy, children and lots and lots of laughter. In other words a great birthday party.

Happy Birthday to our sweet little boy! It seems like only yesterday that we brought you home. Eight years have flown by as we have watched you grow into a sweet, caring, fun loving little boy. Your caring spirit, gentle nature and quick smile warm the hearts of all who meet you. You make us laugh with your sense of humor and you help us to care for all of God's creatures with your empathetic nature. You amaze us everyday! We love you Nicholas!
