Updates have been problematic since the wireless connections have disappeared. Hopefully, I will be able to update the blog with my cell.
Last night started off a bit rough. Victoria threw up which upset her immensely and caused her a bit of pain. However, she was able to sit up in bed for about 10-15 minutes while we changed her clothes and the bedding. That was a major accomplishment but she was wiped afterwards. In addition to throwing up Victoria had been doing so well that one of her morphine doses was missed. Throughout the night her nurse stayed ahead of her pain keeping her morphine and valium on schedule. I was a bit concerned that they stopped IV fluids last night but she handled the change well. Overall, she had a very good night. She was even able to roll from side to side by herself.
When she got up this morning she insisted the catheter had to come out. She also wanted the AV line out. When Dr. Keating accompanied by various other doctors, physician assistants, nurses, fellows etc. arrived for rounds (in my opinion at an ungodly hour of the morning - at least we were warned in advance) she told him that she wanted the catheter and AV line out and she wanted to go home. She also asked him if she had to come back. He agreed the catheter and AV line could come out. He also said that if she continues to do well we could be home before the end of the weekend. That is her greatest wish is to go home.
We were booted out of ICU. We have been given a regular room. Although I must say this is one of the largest hospital rooms I have ever been in. It is a private room as are most of the rooms. It has a private bathroom with a full shower. Not the Ritz but we have a private bathroom, a room with a view and a couch for tonight. To be honest I think the recliner would be better but I figure I will fall asleep holding her.
Today has been a little more of a roller coaster. After begging for pancakes she was only able to take two bites before her stomach told her enough. She hasn't taken anything solid since and she has been shying away from water or juice.
Right now she is sleeping. Her medicine is on an as needed basis. She just had some valium. I will be making sure she gets pain medication pretty regularly tonight. She needs one more night where we stay ahead of the pain.
Steven and the boys should be here shortly. Both boys can't wait to see her. Despite the their differences both Alex and Nicholas are worried about her. Alex was upset with us that we wouldn't let him be at the hospital yesterday. Aside from the fact that the hospital said no siblings, it really wasn't something he needed to deal with. Nick was clingy when Steven got home last night. Thanks to Tammie and her boys our boys were able to get through the day with friends and that is one of the best gifts of all.
I will try to post more often. Right now there is a very special little someone who needs her Momma and frankly her Momma needs her.
