We are home. H-O-M-E. Four little letters that form one of the sweetest words ever uttered. Home is where the heart is. It is the place that we go to so that we can revitalize our spirit. It is where we feel safe and where we can be ourselves without pretense and without judgment. Home offers healing and joy. It is where we want to be at the end of the day.
Home is where every six year old little girl wants to be when she is feeling miserable. Home is where she is now. She has improved 110% in the less than 24 hours since we walked in the door. She is smiling genuine smiles again and laughing. Such a sweet, sweet sound. Now our goal is to keep her from overdoing it. She gets these great bursts of energy and then she collapses in exhaustion and sleeps. Sleep is definitely something she needs.
We were able to give Victoria a bath today and wash her hair. She can take a bath as long as she doesn't get her hair wet with the bath water. So we washed her hair by using the water from the faucet. She is still sore all over and the bath felt good to her sore muscles. She can go to the pool but she can't get her hair or neck wet. We will be hanging out in our little splasher pool at the house for awhile. She is not suppose to run or jump - yeah that has been an easy directive to implement. She is very anxious to get back to doing everything that she was doing before.
She is still on a steroid taper with liquid Zantac to protect her stomach so her sleep is still being interrupted to take medications. However, as we taper the steroid the sleep interruptions will lessen. She is getting her appetite back. She is enjoying lots of cuddle time with everyone and she is getting better with each minute that she is home.
